Sovereign Citizens-- Please tell me this is fake

Yeah I know. It’s one that SovCits buy from a private company. Hence my use in response to LSLGuy.

Nothing gets by the folks here, although some things do stay buried for a while.

I don’t dispute that some of them can be dangerous, and the cult as a whole is dangerously unhinged, but you gotta admit that the guy following the cop with a dictionary to set him straight on the fine points of “driving” vs “traveling” was pretty funny!

Also hilarious was another video where a sovcit was defending himself in court against the usual charges of not having a license or registration. His unsophisticated language was a perfect match for his total lack of legal knowledge or reasoning skills, and the hillbilly drawl could not have been more fitting in a scripted parody. The judge was remarkably patient but had to keep admonishing him to stay on track. When the judge told him that his claim that the state had no jurisdiction over him was irrelevant and he responded that it ain’t no claim, it’s a FACT, she gently told him to move on. When he asked the police officer if he understood the difference between “driving” and “traveling”, the judge likewise told him to please stick to the actual legal issues. It was all fine comedy, further enhanced by his claim that he was pressing criminal charges against the police officer for issuing him traffic tickets and thus violating his sovcit liberties.

This is basically a cult of lawlessness and delusion. No doubt some of these folks are dangerous, but at least a few appear to be gullible misfits who are otherwise harmless. As a group, they’re probably less dangerous than heavily armed white supremacists and neo-Nazis, though there is undoubtedly the kind of overlap that Venn diagrams were designed to illustrate.

I admit that I was horrified to see that without a “for novelty use only” disclaimer (or some such). Interesting reviews, though.

Although at least it does say “currently unavailable”, which is at least a tiny ray of hope for the ultimate prevalence of sanity, or at least some semblance thereof.

I note that under the Amazon “Customers who bought this item also bought” we have the distinguished legal tome, Common Law Handbook: For Juror’s, Sheriff’s, Bailiff’s, and Justice’s. Which I imagine contains useful information for Sovereign Citizen’s who get pulled over by cop’s for violating traffic law’s that infringe their civil liberty’s.

Shouldn’t those license plates have gold fringe around them, or does that come on the license plate frame?

I don’t suppose it contains any useful information about proper apostrophe usage.

Hah! It’s usually hyphenation and capitalization that the sovcit nutters go for to cast their spells.

The cameras in their faces probably helps with that.

S’ee, that’s how THEY get you, focus’ing on the wrong punctuation! S’erious S’overeign Citizens know that Apostrophe’s are the True S’ecret Ultimate Power’s!

The sovereign citizen defense fails again, but I encourage them to keep trying!

Heh. Do read the reviews for that “no-license plate” – obviously tongue in cheek, but amusing.

I did. The problem is the number of SovCits who actually use them believing it’s real.

Oh, indeed, the true believers are truly a problem. I live in a quiet smallish town on the seacoast north of Boston, not an area you’d think would be swarming with sovcit types, but when I asked a random cop on a traffic detail if he’d ever encountered one, the look of disgust on his face told me yes.

I assume “Bru” is pronounced “Bruh”, like a frat guy might say.

I think “Max Bru” pronounced like “Max Brew” probably describes a lot of that loser’s afternoons before he made a big mistake on Jan 6.

Is it because that most of these J6 jack-offs are, as far as the legal system is concerned, citizens of this country. The reason that we have not declared them terrorists and enemy combatants, and shipped these idiots off to Guantanamo for further interrogation and detention.

They remain citizens even after being convicted of serious crimes. That is a feature, not a bug, of the United States Constitution.

I think it’s a safe bet that it doesn’t contain any useful information about anything, the author’s punctuation being a pretty good indicator of his general quality of education. The same author also wrote The UCC Connection: How to Free Yourself from Legal Tyranny.

Having now watched at least a dozen videos showing how these loons operate, I think I can guess what these books are about. “Common law” basically means case law, which is a perfectly valid concept, but if you’re a deranged sovcit, it means re-interpreting statutes to mean whatever you think they should really mean. An extension of this concept frequently cited by the same loons is “natural law”, which as far as I can tell means their unhinged concept of what Jesus would do, and is the only law they care about.

The other book, which references the “UCC”, and how it will free you from tyranny, I believe refers to the Uniform Commercial Code, which is a set of state laws governing commercial transactions that have been standardized across all states. If you wonder why sovcit lunatics would have any interest in this, I believe it goes like this. They operate under the delusion that the only time a government can have a legitimate interaction with an individual is when the individual has voluntarily entered into a contractual relationship with said government. This is why there’s so much babble about “contracts” and “consent”. I presume this book instructs the reader how he can confidently inform a police officer who’s pulled him over on a traffic stop that since he has no contract with the officer or his employer, the officer can fuck right off. In this way, the sovcit will have freed himself from legal tyranny.

I think another explanation for SovCit mentality is the idea that the federal government cedes some authority to the states in certain matters. Drivers’ licenses are a perfect example. There is no such thing as a US driver’s license, instead you get one from the state. They look at the first part of that fact and ignore the second part, and then declare that drivers’ licenses are not valid, period, and choose to not carry them.

That’s just a peek, but extrapolate that sort of thinking to all law. Find a loophole that limits the government in a specific way and then expand that as much as you want to convince yourself that the law is unenforceable as long as you are able to point it out to law enforcement and courts.
