This is an easy one. Does soy milk last longer than regular milk? Shorter? Or about the same time?
Thanks.

Not in my apartment, matey! A quart of soy milk, rice milk, or cow’s milk usually lasts about 4 days before I’ve drunk it all.
I meant… >sigh<
I meant how long does it last before it goes bad. But then again, I didn’t ask that, did I? I mean, c’mon. Throw me a friggin’ bone here, people.
For a moment, i was worried this was gonna say, “how do you milk a soybean?”
Kept in a sealed container, soy milk usually lasts about a year.
Once you open it, though, it goes bad after about a week.
For the record, my brand (Edensoy…Mmmm) has a “best if used by” date about six mo. from now. It also indicates you should use it 7-10 days after opening it.
I knew that. I was just being a clever-trousers!
Soy milk?! Does it taste like cows milk?
Better, IMHO. I’m not a vegan, so I drink both soy and cow milk rather frequently, and I’ve always preferred the soy variety. Some say it’s an acquired taste, but I’ve always liked it. It tastes slightly vegetabley, in a good way, and just slightly sweet. Absolutely wonderful. And I’m not talking about that nasty vanilla flavored stuff.
And yeah, a sealed container of soy milk can last a long time, even without refrigeration.
Oh, and just so you know, when I’m at college, I drink two liters of the stuff every single day. I get it free at the dining hall, so I drink a whole carton ( 1 liter) every time I go to eat, which is generally twice a day.
astro, no it doesn’t taste like cow’s milk, but it does have a similar texture. Personally I prefer Edenblend which is a mixture of rice milk and soy milk. Soy is too vegetable-y for me, but rice milk is too sweet and watery. together, they are perfection.
Vanilla Westbrae the preferred brand here.
Their plain version is great for cereal. Eden’s plain soy was too strong on cereal for me. But Eden is made in Michigan so I give them props for that!
