…Very, very slowly. And I managed to get front-row seats! So for all you space enthusiasts, here are some pictures: Space Shuttle | Flickr
Ooh, I have tickets to see it at the museum on Thanksgiving weekend!
Awesome pics (and video clip too)!
Thanks
Awesome. Thanks.
Thanks, Pyper.
I didn’t really get many good shots, myself. However, I did take the opportunity to yell out, “GAS GUZZLER!” And several people took offense, including one guy who looked at me self-righteously and said, “It’s the Space Shuttle, idiot. Don’t you have any patriotism?”
L.A. Times coverage.
Wow, the picture in that article is an aerial view of exactly where I was standing!
That article exaggerates some aspects (of course, it’s the media). The article seems to be trying to make some sort of point about crass opportunistic commercialism, but I personally didn’t see a single vendor. Also, no one ignored the police and stood on the sidewalks as the article reports. It wouldn’t have been possible to even do that, unless you ducked the police tape that separated the sidewalks from the side streets. And since ALL the police were there, they weren’t even letting anybody get a toe over the line. I was surprised how quiet, orderly, and respectful the crowd was.
Here’s a time-lapse video from the Times, as well.
I saw your post and thought “I was going to post that! I just saw it last night.”
Then when I watched it, it looked different. I did a search and found the one I saw. Apparently there are at least two time-lapse videos out there!
Both great. Amazing how little clearance there appeared to be in some of those shots. It was like my side mirror at a drive-through in some places.
Yeah, that massivley fucked up traffic all over town for several days. You people on Manchester above the 405: fuck you. I could have done without that, and I’d rather have the trees they cut down to move the damned thing rather than the damned thing itself.
