Spam callers in the wee hours!

I’m staying with relatives in Toronto, and their dad is in the hospital. The landline phone rings, 2:35 AM, and I think I should answer it since it could be bad news from the hospital, and the area code is a local one.

The call goes to the answering machine and the caller starts off with a cheery “Hi Jessica” (he has the name of the homeowner correct), but then the call cuts off.

I google the number just to be sure that it’s not the hospital. And this hit comes up:
289-224-1088 / 2892241088
This spam caller is relentless.

Ugh!

When we moved we kept our old phone number (trivial to do with VoIP). So the spam callers who like to pretend they are in the same exchange as us also assume we are still in the same time zone. So getting really early spam calls.

Fun.
