Sparkles around the SDMB menu bar

Anyone else getting these artifacts in the bar that starts with USER CP? Not all the time but by moving over that bar it changes, it’s like I’m playing a cheap DOS shareware computer game.

No, I have nothing of that sort. Either there’s something bad with your monitor, graphics card or video driver, or someone spiked your drink ;).

Nope. No sparkles.

Nope

Is it like shiny swarming amoebae? Otherwise, no. That’s all I’m seeing.

Nope no sparkles here, just a nice looking site

Those mushrooms on your pizza . . .

Here’s our own Cecil Adams on this subject, more or less. Perhaps you are experiencing a “retinal posterior vitreous detachment.”

Here’s Cecil’s earlier column, on those floating bits we all see (remnants of a fetal artery), but also interocular parasites and detached retinas.

You need to talk to your eye doctor. For reals.

If you don’t have an eye doctor, this might be a good time to get one.

Symptoms like that could be anything from pollen to something more dire. In any event, you need to get it checked out if you can. I recently knew someone with similar symptoms and he had a detached retina. One surgery later, he’s much more better but he was prompt about having it looked at.

Hope you get this cleared up soonest.

Whoa, let’s back up here. If you’re seeing them everywhere, leaking outside the screen, then, yes, get to a doctor. It’s enough of an emergency even in these times.

But if you’re just seeing it on the screen, it’s far more likely to be a video hardware issue. You may want to look up how to disable hardware accelerated video on your browser, to see if that helps for now, until you can get your computer/device looked at.

Though, honestly, you may just need a restart or reinstall of your browser or video drivers.
