In my 2 years, I saw no tacos, burritos, corn chips, or Mexican food of any kind. The only Latin American food I recall was Argentinian beef. Tortilla in Spain means omelet, leading to some confusion in discussing tacos, burritos, tortilla chips, etc.
Where I was, the word “taco” meant a swear word. Every time I would mention that one of my favorite foods was tacos, my friends would giggle insanely and I would roll my eyes (they knew at that point it was a food from Mexico).
