So can anyone with a valid CAC/Military ID go onto a Special Forces Installation in the United States say to shop at the PX, etc?

(Referring to Special Forces only installations such as this SOUTHCOM one belonging to the US Army outside of Crestview, FL: 30.653808, -86.607627)

I suggest you call SOUTHCOM Security and ask them directly. The phone number is listed on their website.

But in general, yes, a valid US military ID will get you onto most military bases. In light of recent events there may be additional security procedures at the gate.
