While in Spain, I saw plenty of vehicles (mostly lorries, buses and taxis) sporting a small additional plate reading either “MP” or “SP”.

In Spain, finding MP or “Materiales Peligrosos” on a truck/lorry means that it’s transporting hazardous materials.
