Tonight, Obama will discuss his plan for troop drawdown. Many support it, but there are more still who say it’s not enough, even among his own party. There’s something nagging at me about this, but I can’t see it. How many of you will hear the edict of our Glorious Leader tonight; better yet, How many of you will care?
I don’t bother to listen to political speeches since they are all liars.
Comptrollers don’t usually command an army, and with good reason.
I think we should bring them all back. 100% of them. Put them to work defending our borders against illegal immigrants and/or drug smugglers. We’ve got to keep them working; if they come back and leave the military, there are no jobs for them.
If it’s a government funded job stimulus we are looking for, the military is a terribly wasteful version.
Put the money into a national high-speed rail system and we’ll actually get something useful for it.
You know, there’s actually been a little bit of debate about whether we should consider the South and Central American drug cartels terrorist organizations, given the high amounts of violence and havoc they wreak in Mexico. It’s no surprise that their citizens flee to the US to try and escape it, but then again, some of them are in with the cartels, bringing drugs stashed in their anuses and stomachs.
I’m fairly uninterested. In less than four months, we will have been fighting in Afghanistan for ten years. The only thing I would like to hear is that all the troops are coming home tomorrow, and that’s not what he’s going to say.
Anyone who cares at all, one way or the other, about the American presence in Afghanistan, I should think.
Comptroller? Glorious Leader? I take it you’ll be skipping the speech to listen to Glenn Beck or someone similar.
I think it’s unfortunate that political maneuvering is ostensibly outweighing rational thinking and planning. While I think the opposition’s views and opinions should be taken into account in such large policy decisions, the threat of spin and the reflexively negative response/criticism seem to play an ugly role in directing decision-making. I can’t watch tonight, but am interested in the overall framework and how it will intersect with the upcoming debates/primaries.
I say this, and I say it now. Politicians are bad, mkay? Anyone who gets elected next term will still be called things like “Premier”, and “Comptroller”, and “Der Fuhrer”.
When you say things like this, you guarantee that almost no one will take your opinion seriously.
