In the late 1960’s we had a speed reading tool/game. As I recall it was brown and cream plastic, the size of a large book(about 15" x 7" x 1". It had a slot at the top where you would feed a pre-printed card in. A spring loaded cover would flash when you pressed a small button on the side of the device, allowing you to see, and atempt to read, what was on the card. You then reset the machine, and at the same time, could view slowly, what you had just read. It went from a single word, to a phrase, or sentence, and also had numerical slides. The machine could be set at different speeds. As I recall it was 1/25th of a second, or thereabouts. I have been racking my brains for ages, tying to recall the name. I think it had “lect” or “lex” in the name. Help.
