Sphynx cat fights?

So early today I was attempting to relax and read a little in bed before heading for work, but was also the territory for a heated battle between two kittens, rapidly smacking the heck out of each other. Every once in a while one of those slaps would hit me, hooking into clothes and breaking skin. I was reflecting on how their fur probably cushions them from the bulk of their blows, and it crossed my mind to wonder about sphynx cats. Do they learn to be less hyper and violent with each other or do they turn each other into bloody shreds?

Photos, or it didn’t happen :dubious:

That is a good question, though

I watch a lot of the vet shows and Sphynx cats have sensitive skin. I suppose a fight between 2 would be very bloody. I’ve have seen furbearing cats really bloody each other up. Ears, faces and necks seem to be the spots for blood letting. If its play fighing they tend to keep the claws in. I’ve been hooked in passing by a spitting fight between my own cats. It seems if you get in the way you get punished.

Here I go again, diverting the thread. Our new dog, a long-legged, 90 pound, one year old boxer/something loves to chase his tail. With those tall legs he careens a bit. If I am stretched out on the couch in my stocking feet he will sometimes veer a bit too much to the side and catch my foot in his gigantic mouth as he whirls around. So far he hasn’t chomped down or papa is going to be pissed.

I don’t think you’re going to find a lot of feral sphinx cats. They’re a specialized breed. Most of any fighting would be play fighting between siblings or companions.

I know of one that lost it’s nose…

Which is precisely what I was talking about.

There’s (unsurprisiningly) a Far Side for that.

Cat fights between siblings and companions are mostly for play and the odd squabble over food etiquette or some other annoyance.

In fifty years of multiple cat ownership, I’ve never seen one of those fights draw blood.

And I’m proposing that is because their fur protects them, and it would be otherwise for furless cats. Whenever I am accidentally hit by one of those play fight hits between to kittens, I often bleed from it. Hence my question. About Sphynx cats. Not furry ones.

Oh, I have seen some blood at the cat house at the shelter. All the cats after shots and neutering are housed in one big room. Occasionally one will have to be in a cage by themselves til adoption. They can’t get along with others and will have to go to an 1 only-cat family.
