Another request for help remembering a kids’ book.
This was around 1958. I was 10. Some books came out as companions to the Spin & Marty series, which was on the Mickey Mouse Club. The two boys had adventures at perpetual summer camp.
In this one book, all I remember was that they came across a ghost town, a concept completely new and terrifying to me. It was possibly a mining settlement, so there were few inhabitants, but the traumatizing part for me (and presumably the victims) was that they died in their beds from some mysterious cause and Spin and Marty found skeletons lying in all the beds!
I had nightmares about that for months. I couldn’t get the pictures out of my head. Finding skeletons lying in one bed after another…geez…hardly sounds like a kids’ book. Maybe I magnified it in my terror.
Anyone else remember this book? Or another book that had a similar effect on you?
