<Spoiler> France vs. Uruguay <Spoiler>

Never spelt ‘Uruguay’ before in my life. What a strange word !

Missed a lot of the first half of this game but can it really be true that unless they win, it’s curtains for the Champions…

Half time: 0 - 0

From what I can see, LeBoeuf had to be taken off with an injury early on and Henry’s been sent off…ouch! just saw the tackle, Henry must have been trying to take his leg off at the knee.

Got a feeling there might be some fireworks in the second half…I feel so…so… ‘conflicted’.France in, France out…?

It’s times like this I wonder if too many star players are more of a problem that a pleasure for the manager: Wil the primadonna’s listen to half time team orders ?

Second half underway.

My goodness, is this the world cup of surprises or WHAT??

Trivia Kings: when was the last time the reigning world champion got knocked out in the first round?

That’s how Yahoo’s Match cast introduces the second half!!!

And there’s a foul and a yellow card to Silva of Uruguay within the first two minutes…

Gp

Don’t know Coldie but I think it was mentioned in the studio at half time. Go on…1930 something ?

Well, they don’t look like they have 10 men at the moment…if it stays this way, fatigue will expose those ten with 15-20 minutes to go.

France need to score. And soon.

Having a look in the FIFA Archives shows that Brazil (Champions in '62) did not get out of the group stages in '66.

A good omen for England???

Gp

Good grief - this must be a game worth watching!! Just six shots in the entire first half, and 14 already in the second!! And here I am stuck at work, “watching” this on Yahoo…

:frowning:

It’s getting quite amusing; Everyone up, everyone back…I haven’t seen this since under 7 park footie !

0-0

The King is dead - long live… errr…

All over - France are at the bottom of Group A - and yet to score in this World Cup!!! They must beat Denmark and hope that Uruguay beat Senegal to have a hope of going through. What a fascinating Group this will be!!!

Gp

I loves you L_C, but as you’re the person who requested that people not post stuff with “revealing” thread titles, I’m kinda amazed to see you starting this thread.

The game finished while I was posting this. And I have heaps of opinions about the performance of both sides and the refereeing. But most of the world didn’t get to see or hear the game live, so I’ll go post those opinions elsewhere (and it’s almost killing me to not use even so much as a smiley as a hint).

You’re the person who asked for the rules, so you’re as stuck with them as the rest of us.

Wow. France out.

Okay it’s seems that France now need to beat Denmark by two clear goals to progress.

I actulayy liked the pun at the end: France need Zi-desperate-Dane. My kinda joke !

Whatcha talking 'bout, reprise - if folks don’t want to know what’s happening, don’t open the thread…maybe I missed something ?

reprise, the title indicates which game it is about, and that it contains spoilers. I’d say London_Calling is playing by the rules just fine. You didn’t have to click on this link.

A dymanic wallchart that you just udate when you want to. Will organise your sweeps and give you graphs etc.

Very good indeed. you may need to do it file by file coz the server failed for me but it’s well worth it.

reprise – Just to be clear. As I understand it, it’s the difference between a thread title that says:

“Holy Shit, USA 3-0 up against Portugal !!” (paraphrased as per yesterday), and

“<Spoiler> USA vs. Portugal <Spoiler>”

  • with the latter, nothing’s given away in the title but discussion of the game lies within.

These two teams (France and Uruguay) get my “Bad Sportsmanship” award. Every two minutes they were grabbing at each other’s uniforms trying to pull each other down. Is this supposed to be a friendly game or what?

No, Marky, it isn’t.

Check out the Italian’s shirts Marky (they’re playing on Saturday).- They’re supposed to be “grab proof”

Da Silva was lucky not be sent off for his “tackle” as well. Bloody inconsistent ref.
