Sports for people who suck at sports

Ultimate’s not as easy as it looks. People may tolerate you reluctantly, but no wants someone who can’t throw a nice zippy forehand, a slow runner, or has hands of stone. I’m serious.

I’d recommend Disc / Frisbee Golf. While there are certainly skilled players, anyone who can chuck a disc can play, from child to senior. And it’s essentially free, once you have a disc or two (you could probably dredge up a few from the local water hazard!)

Maybe, kinda, sorta - your mileage may vary

if there is one around you that has the kickball and other stuff our city does. Some people are good but most of us suck pretty bad. I do the kickball, bowling, and frisbee as well as some of the neighborhood walks. I’m not good at any of it which makes me about average for “us”.

That leaves me out, I guess. I’ve never been able to throw a forehand. I can get either a left or right hook on my backhand, though.

A frisbee golf course opened up in a park near where I used to live. I could never figure out if I was supposed to pay a fee (there was already a public golf course there), what the rules were, or even where the course went. There were baskets on posts scattered around the park, but that was about it.

miniature golf, walking

There are most likely no fees, and I would bet that the course layout is explained on a sign (or maybe they didn’t have $ to post it yet) or on the park website. There are virtually no rules beyond let faster people play through, and don’t litter. There will be a par set for each basket, and an order of baskets. Other than that, try to get the disc in the basket with the least # of throws.
