Not sure if this is the proper forum, but I figured more people here would be familiar with the name.
Mr. Wolf, who is now 81 years old, was arrested and charged with felony criminal mischief for removing the word “plantation” from the sign outside his gated community (Classics Plantation Estates) in Naples, FL because he considered the word racist. He then handed the letters to a security guard, telling him to pass them along to the property manager. The sheriff’s office said Wolf has a long history of complaints about the name. He was released after posting bond.
I guess it’s a good thing he lives in Naples and not at the other end of I-75 where I grew up. That’d be waaaaaay too many signs for him to deal with all of them himself.
I have no clue what the real answer is in Mr. Wolf’s case, but it’s possible he was in contract to build the home before the community was named. I went through this with a home build where there was no street name at contract time and the street ended up getting a fucking awful name. Not racist or anything, just very stupid.
I used to call into his radio show on ESPN Radio in NY every Saturday morning. I knew the call screener back then, so he’d get me on whenever I wanted. Warner was already starting to lose a little bit, and this was probably 10 years ago. I suspect there is some age-related aspect to his recent actions.
