Anyone familiar with this actress Carol Byron? She just stopped working in 1969, and I cant find a reason why. Even the obscure Peggy Dow’s bio says that she (Peggy) retired when she got married.
You have a “thing” for Carol?
Not so much….I just thought she did really well with what she was given in what I e seen her in. And usually when an actor abruptly stops there’s a given reason
I apologize if this has been mentioned before, because this is such a loooooooooong thread, but:
Last night TCM aired the movie “Brainstorm” (1965) starring Jeffrey Hunter. He shares one scene with Joseph Mell, the bald slave trader from “The Cage/The Menagerie.” (Did they actually appear on screen together in that ep?) They’re in an insane asylum, and Mell brings Hunter flowers .
Also in this movie that are easy to spot:
Philip Pine (Col. Green)
Pamelyn Ferdin (One of the kids co-opted by “Gorgon, the Friendly Angel”)
Steven Ihnat (Garth)
Bill Quinn (McCoy’s father, and Bob Newhart’s real-life father-in-law)
Going back to “The Cage/The Menagerie,” it appears that with the death of Laurel Goodwin earlier this year that the last surving cast member is Sandra Gimpel, better (un)known as the person inside the M113 salt vampire costume.
I don’t see that she had any Star Trek credits.
Indeed they did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Apuye0JcWqM
Neither does Dawn Wells.
James “Tristan Adams” Gregory is Don Hollinger’s boss “Jonathan Adams” in fifth-season episodes of That Girl.
Who was inside it in “The Man Trap”?
Not sure I understand. Sandra Gimpel, playing a Talosian, might be the only surviving identifiable cast member from The Cage/Menagerie. She also played the salt vampire monster in The Man Trap.
This thread is so long, I’m sure we’re repeating ourselves…but whenever I think of James Gregory, I think of Barney Miller.
Okay, I get it. You were talking about two different episodes.
I was under the impression the Salt Vampire was also in the first pilot but was cut out when it became the two-parter. (They did show other “specimens” in the menagerie, kinda.)
What I don’t get is how one of the Talosians could fill out that suit. It was big, and they all were small. Did I miss one?
In fact I can only find one actor who appeared on Gilligans Island and a Star Trek episode. Can anyone figure it out without looking it up? I think its pretty difficult, I forgot about him in both episodes.
Janos Prohaska.
Took me 20 seconds…
Damnit!! Its not the one Im thinking of…And i spent a whole 30 minutes trying to determine if there was another!
Well done by the way
edit: Nevermind, Ive found several through the Gilligans island wiki
I was thinking of Nehemiah Persoff who played a dictator on Gilligans Island, and a very small part in TNG’s “The Most Toys”
My first thought was Michael Ansara, who made a career out of playing “Native” types. But I was wrong.
The second most obvious choice was Stanley Adams, who did play a Native chief.
Michael Forest also apparently played a Native on Gilligans Island
Carolyn McCormick provided the voice of Deborah Read Franklin, the Founder’s common-law wife, in the recent Ken Burns documentary Benjamin Franklin.
Malachi Throne does voice-work for Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp…sounds a great deal like Paul Frees.
Carolyn Seymour who played the Romulan Commander in TNGs ‘Face of the Enemy’ does voice-work for Mass Effect.
