Spraypaint and Rubber?

In an attempt to make my laptop unique, I have created a design that I would like to put onto the cover using a mask from clear overhead projector material. I plan to use a spray paint, although I do not know exactly what brand.

The laptop is an IBM T40, the cover of which is coated in a sort of rubbery material, in the sense that it has a slight tacky feel to it while being extremely thin. Would I run into any trouble with the paint sticking to this surface? Also, if it would stick, what could I apply to give additional protection to the paint?

I am open to other solutions as well, but I think that the mask would probably be the easiest way.
