Squee right outside our front door - Bunny Martial Arts Stunts!

Imagine the following:

  • Sunday 7am. I have the front door open, with the glass storm door shut and am looking up periodically to see if the Sunday paper has arrived. As I look outside, two young bunnies, who live in our yard, are playing a game: one stays in place, and the other runs back and forth directly at the first - the game is that the stationary bunny must jump up so the racing bunny can pass underneath. This happened for about a 5 minute stretch, back and forth, back and forth, with the racing bunny keeping tight reverses so the jumping bunny might get caught off guard. When they got it right, it was SO adorable. When then missed, it was EVEN MORE adorable. So damn cute, like acting out a Jet Li martial arts film where he leaps over the Ferrari - but with BUNNIES!

  • Now, also realize that, with me at the storm door, are my two cats, attempting to prove that they can phase through glass at a molecular level

Hilarious.

I don’t suppose you caught it on video…

I actually did! They did it for so long I had time to actually think about that. About 30 seconds, and a still photo of the cats up against the glass. At one point the racing bunny fakes out starting, gets the other bunny to jump too soon and then runs into him. Squee.

Which are where? These cute pics and video? We want them.

But you are gonna keep it to yourself, so no one else gets to squee?

Sounds like a game of Lagomorph Lamborghini to me. It’s rarely seen. You’re lucky with the luck of eight rabbits’ feet still living. Spend it wisely.

Okay, here you go - 21 seconds of full-strength Squee, comin’ at ya: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XeCsS3SK_Jw

Enjoy.

That was adorable!

Thanks! Cute!

There ya go!

Squeee indeed. Courting behavior.

Courting behavior, eh? So lots of little baby bunnies to squee at, approximately 1 month from now (Google says the gestation period for rabbits is 31 days).

Keep your cell phone charged and ready to video!

That was awesome. I’ve never seen that behavior. Thanks for sharing.

Great Jumping Jehoshaphat’s got nuthin’ on them bunnies.

So this is bunny courting behavior?

Wait until the bunnies are 61. They will find “there’s nothing on TV anyway - whaddya say, doll” works just as well, with a lot less jumping.

Regards,
Shodan

Squee cut short when I fainted dead away from the adorableness of it all!

I read the title, I thought Squee finally came back.

Oh gosh, that’s so cute! We have a lot of bunnies, but I’ve never seen them do that.

I wonder if my sunbathing bunny will be back this year. Last year, most early afternoons, a bunny would stretch out for a nap in the sun in a somewhat protected spot between bushes in our yard. Some mornings I’d leave a few baby carrots that would ALWAYS be gone later in the day.
