Squid Game - Season 2 and Season 3

They released the hounds the entire season at one time, right?

Indeed. Which is why it’s cool to not post spoilers at this point. Very good first two episodes.

Finished episode five. Great cliffhanger. They are leaning in hard on the “democracy doesn’t work” subtext.

We’ve seen the first two as well. Keys & Knives was a great game. I made that title up, but it is the title of one of the episodes as well.

Just taking the knife away from someone is an underutilized strategy in this show.

I’d like to know an update on the results, specifically how many knife-people didn’t make it and how many key-people didn’t make it. Then, breakdown how many knife-people died and how many simply didn’t get their kill in before the 30 minutes expired.

Note: I have not seen past episode 2 of the season.

There is an accounting beneath the piggy bank for total eliminated but I don’t think it was broken down.

Spoiler for “Hide and Seek” game:

Amazing that only one hider survived by going through the exit. The rest of the survivors did so by hiding or fending off their attackers.

I think it was officially called “Starry Night,” like the Van Gogh painting. The ceiling painting reminded me of that. I was like, holy fack, how did they build that labyrinth set? Or was some of that CGI? Pretty amazing at any rate. What a cutthroat competition, you could say.

I’ve seen four episodes now and the next game they play, which was also very well done. I’ve enjoyed the new games from both season 2 and 3.

I’m not sure how I feel about CGI baby that never shits tho.

I liked season 3 (lots of suspense and tragedy), although I thought the denouement was just okay rather than great.

I was also distracted by the CGI baby on occasion.

Agreed, I kind of lost interest in the final episode, not really a great finish considering that the 5 episodes were really good.

I have yet to see the finale, but my understanding now is that David Fincher is creating/producing an American version that is not so much a remake as it is a continuation.

My interest and excitement are minimal.

I actually really like the game show version and hope they produce another season of that and use some of the new games.

My son convinced me to watch with subtitles this season rather than the English dub. It does make it less “silly” or “cartoony” since the voice dubbing can be pretty bad.
The VIPs ironically who speak english in the show however are really poorly written cartoonish characters and the actors for them seem amateurish compared to the mainly Korean cast.

Yeah, I have no idea why they re-dubbed them in English when they are speaking English in it.

Did they? I had no idea. I always watch in the original language. The captions cut out during the English dialog. One of them (who I don’t think I’ve seen unmasked up to episode 5) is definitely going for a Ryan Reynolds vibe.

We finished the entire season and show tonight.

Yeah, we were OK with the ending. Nothing outstanding, but they also did not completely blow it.

I’m sure we can talk about the very final scene quite a bit, but I don’t even want to get into closed spoilers yet here. It was…well, interesting.

Finished tonight also. Just one question in the denouement, who was the boy at the airport and who was he getting reunited with? I didn’t recognize any of those people.

It was the younger brother of the North Korean woman from Season 1. He was being raised by Gi-Hun’s friend’s mother (who ran a fish stall) at the end of Season 1; she is with the boy at the airport when he meets his mother. I guess Gi-Hun arranged for the boy’s mother to get smuggled in from North Korea before he died?

We finished tonight. I wasn’t sure after the mini season 2 earlier this year but now I’m convinced Season 2-3 is an improvement over Season 1. I just found myself caring about a lot more characters. I’ll comment more after we start sharing open spoilers.
