Please can someone tell me! I rent a spot for my bar in a strip mall and last Sunday we had a packed house. Just as everything was good the roof over hang that covers the walk way to all the strip mall fell . The parking lot is up next to it and the roof damaged a lot of car’s. Also took out my outside cameras. Who is responsible? I do not own the property nor do I own the building.:smack:

If you’re asking for legal advice, you’re going to have to talk to a lawyer.

If you’re asking in general terms who would be responsible in a hypothetical situation where a structure fails and damages someone else’s property, then you can probably get a general answer. I would suspect that the building’s owner would be responsible for structural failures. Unless the structure that failed was erected by the tenant. You should talk to your insurance provider.

Also: You should request that a moderator change the title to something more descriptive, such as ‘Is the tenant or landlord responsible for a structural failure of a building?’.

This is a very specific legal question about a real-life occurance. Faceless posters on a message board aren’t your best resource. Seek legal help.
