St. Louis Jewish Cemetery Vandalized

BTW, this reminds me of something-- remember that neo-Nazi who named his kid Adolf Hitler, and wanted a birthday cake that said “Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler?” and one store refused to make it?

A few people I know sided with the family, even while they agreed that it was pretty terrible to name a kid Adolf Hitler. They just didn’t see the harm in the cake.

Well, on the original Adolf Hitler’s actual birthday (something most people wouldn’t know off-hand), people who think it’s funny, leave cakes that say “Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler,” or some variant thereof, on the doorsteps of synagogues and Hillels. My college Hillel got one once, and to be on the safe side, the first person to work there in the morning called the police, and the police called the bomb squad. There was no bomb, but a lot of city dollars were wasted making sure, and it was probably a good decision.

So the person who refused to make the cake was probably familiar with this practice.

<<The Southern Poverty Law Center recorded 1,372 bias incidents between Trump’s inauguration and Feb. 7, the watchdog group reported. Among those, the group highlighted 57 incidents in 24 states of anonymous bomb threats being called in to Jewish Community Centers. The organization has also recorded that the number of hate groups in the U.S. grew in 2016 for the second straight year, with a threefold increase in the number of anti-Muslim hate groups.>>

:frowning:

There were so many threats today, that we kept all the children inside in the preschool (with all the doors locked). A lot of times bomb threats are a way to get people out of the building so they can be fired on.

No one threatened us, but we have a plan to go to a neutral building if there is ever a threat that is a pattern of Jewish threats.

My old JCC (I went to school there from 4-12 years old, as there’s an attached primary school) got another threat yesterday, so I think they’ve been evacuated three times now since the new year.

I think I remember it happening once in all the years I went there, and even then it was some kind of state emergency drill.

Actually, that’s the only person outside of myself and my brother whose birthday I remember. I don’t even remember my mom and dad’s birthdays. It’s a really easy date to remember is why.

I don’t…indulge but I remember it for that anyway, and because a close friend had that birthday too.
This is so sad little kids have to even be thinking they might be hurt in their school.

I don’t think our toddlers have a clue. Our four and five year olds may know something from their parents, but we haven’t told them anything.

One of the suspects responsible for eight of the bomb threats has been caught

Former journalist Juan M. Thompson made eight bomb threats while claiming that the threats were part of a harassment campaign by his former girlfriend. He tried to make it look like the girlfriend was doing it in order to get himself in trouble.

Fired reporter accused of threatening some Jewish centers, cyber-stalking

What a slimeball. I hope he spends years in prison. It’s a shame the authorities drug their feet on the original cyberstalking charges. Terrorism is Terrorism, even if the victim is an ex-girlfriend.

So far, he’s only charged with one count of cyberstalking in Missouri but will face more charges in New York, where the bomb threats were sent.

And of course, there are still more terrorists out there threatening Jewish institutions. Hopefully, the FBI can make headway against the other nazi scum, too.

Perhaps, but:
