I’m not sure why Diogenes didn’t point this out, but he clearly said that poverty correlates with street crime. Poverty does probably correlate with street crime, but there are lots of non-violent, white collar types of crime in which blacks are not so disproportionate.
:dubious: Anybody can get arrested for an offense whether they committed it or not, of course. If what you’re trying to say is that people belonging to demographic groups that are not habitually associated with certain types of crimes are less likely to be arrested for those types of crimes, that’s certainly true, but not very informative.
I don’t understand what point you’re trying to make here. Sure, the incidence of different kinds of crimes is different in urban versus rural areas; there’s a higher rate of muggings in big cities and a higher rate of arson in small towns, for example (as illustrated in these stats). Overall, there are more white criminals than black criminals, but racial percentages change for different types of crimes.
That too, thanks.
I just want to point out that the Stop Snitchin’ movement seems to reinforce the idea that there is to some degree a culture of criminality within urban black communities.
