Ah, but alien-wrasslin’ with a twist - the winner of the smackdown had to demonstrate mercy despite massive temptation to the contrary. If it’d just been “Kirk’s got to kill this pocket Godzilla”, then you’d have a case - but it had more to it than that, including the folks on the bridge overhearing the conversation between Kirk and the Gorn and realizing that, contrary to expectations, they could have been in the wrong.
Agreed about the uniform. Having the Captain get into a fist-fight 'most every other week could be a cliche given that it’s meant to be a story about the reasonably far future and hi-tech to boot; having his shirt rip every time would just be risible.
Naw, that bit with the master race with the stupid name passing judgment on humanity could have been straight out of an old issue of Astounding, and probably was. Now that we’re on the way to the Moon for real, I would have thought our science fiction would have developed a little, too. Dammit, if they’re going to just remake Buck Rodgers, couldn’t they at least give us Wilma Deering too?
