Star Trek Lower Decks

I laughed.

I’m totally on board with this show and have no compunctions whatsoever about continuity or whether this is “real” Star Trek. It looks funny.

Ouchies! Gotta be careful with bat’leths.

They set the hook. I can’t wait.

That clip is way better than the trailer. Glad someone’s doing something fun with Trek, all the recent stuff has been far too serious. TNG was great and thought-provoking but also outright campy at times. We need more camp.

I think we know why she got holodeck cleanup duty. And probably why some guy had an eye patch and was giving away his bat’leth.

That opening credits sequence…

It premieres tonight - woohoo! And see: UPDATED: Legacy Actor Cameos Confirmed For ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks,’ Plus New Clips And Promos – TrekMovie.com

It is already out. I watched it before making my comment 6 hours ago.

This is absolute garbage, the fact anyone can look forward to this Orville + Rick and Morty knockoff is quite frankly offensive.

This is quite literally shitting all over Star Treks legacy.

Lighten up, Francis.

That boat has already sailed, and it is named the USS JJ Abrams.

hell, the Voyager may have been the “class” boat for shitting on Star Trek.

So, this is Star Trek scat porn?

They really are going where no one has gone before.

Well, I just watched the first episode, and mostly enjoyed it. Beautifully drawn, and some good laughs.
Ens. Mariner in particular is funny, irrepressible and has a great voice. The other ensigns are fine. Loved having a grumpy Caitian CMO. I noticed there doesn’t seem to be an impulse drive on the Cerritos. One plot criticism: The inevitable bloodshed from the zombie outbreak was instantly forgotten. How many of the crew actually died after being munched on?

But I’ll keep watching.

Just like in any episode of any Trek series. I’m sure it was purposeful.

I couldn’t have asked for better from the voice work. I found the art style really appealing for the most part, especially the space scenes. There’s something about how the people are animated or drawn, though. . .

I don’t know how to explain what I didn’t like about it. I don’t watch anime or most modern cartoons (except for Rick & Morty & Harley Quinn). Maybe if I did, I’d have a little more knowledge of modern animation I could pull from. It’s not a dealbreaker in any case, it’s just a contrast between things I do like, and don’t, in the same show, sticks out for me.

MAYBE. . .maybe it’s the blurred background when the characters are in the foreground. That’s not something I see in the previously mentioned shows. I know it’s supposed to emulate live-action shows or movies, but I guess I’m not used to it.

The before-credits scene made me hope it would lean more in the Harley Quinn direction, what with the leg slice and blood spurt, but they kept up the manic without pushing the envelope as much as HQ does.

Oh well, it’s the first episode. Hopefully it will get better. Maybe as we get to know the characters better there will be some good character-based stuff. Right now though, it seems like things are more manic than funny. Or maybe I don’t have a sense of humor.

I had a good time watching it. I thought it was funny, ridiculous and absurd, just what I want in an animated comedy. It’s the little things like a broken replicator spitting out hot bananas.

I’d enjoy some more thoughtful character based interaction, like we had in Futurama, but I’m cool with it just being a fun new setting for now.

Having your own daughter serve under your command is A Very Bad Idea… but certainly could lead to a lot of drama/comedy.

Nah, who is lower decks supposed to appeal too?

Well, there are a number of people in this very thread who enjoyed it. So… us?
