Star Trek novels you's like to see as movies

…which, of course, will NEVER happen, but…

I’d like to see either ‘Vendetta’ or ‘Q-Squared’ done as movies. (Although ‘Vendetta’ might be a little bit of a downer, and the final disposition of the Super Doomsday machine might be hard to explain in movie format). Q-Squared would be perfect. Humor, action, bizarre time-shifting scenes, Data w/ Tasha again (you know what I mean, nudge-nudge), etc.

When I was younger, I thought ‘Spock Must Die’ would be a good movie as well.

What do you think?

“A Stitch In Time”

WONDERFUL novel. It was written by Andrew J. Robinson (the actor who played Garak on Deep Space Nine). It’s about Garak’s life on Cardassia after the Dominion War and about his childhood. It’s also where I got my username. It would make an excellent film on its own merits. However, it has little or not Federation content, so it’ll never happen.

“Time for Yesterday” by A.C. Crispin

Original series…Spock finds out he has a son w/ a woman he met while trapped 5,000 years in the past.

I’ll definitely agree with Peter David’s Vendetta. It would have made a much better Borg movie than First Contact, and we wouldn’t be stuck with that dippy Queen…

Dreadnaught by Carey.
Focuses mainly on crewmembers of the Big E besides the Command Crew.

I am curious lawoot, why don’t you think “Spock Must Die” would make a good movie now that you’re an adult? That story, which was written by James Blish I believe, was pretty good. For those who don’t know, it involved a Klingon attempt to violate the Organian Peace Treaty and the complications resulting from same.

The question is, if new movies of Star Trek:TOS are made, and assuming Shatner, Nimoy and co are too old (or too dead, as in DeForrest Kelley’s case) then which actors should play Kirk, Spock and the gang.

I read a certain book, but I can’t remember it’s name…

It picked up right after Generations left off. A Borg-Romulan alliance stole Kirk’s body, and made a clone, then sent it out to kill Enterprise-E crewmen. Or something like that. It was cool at the time, but I can’t remember crap now.

Definately Q-Squared.

I’d just love to see the 2 android Datas ask the humanoid Data what the advantages of an organic body are, and then see his answer in that funny deadpan way the non-emotionally data has.

The basic story (oops, Spock Must Die) would still make a good movie, don’t get me wrong… basically it’s the age-of-the-cast thing. Not to mntion the fact that the ST universe continuity has basically ignored the Organian Peace Treaty anyway…

VENDETTA would have been the ultimate Next Generation movie, but it wouldn’t work now unless they reworked it to keep up with all the changes in the Borg. Hell, it may be re-working it anyway…

What was the one where Data is changed into a human? I think it was by Peter David. Anyway, that would be good too.

DARK MIRROR would also have been great, but they have went in a different direction with the whole mirror universe. Too bad, it would have been interesting to see an evil Enterprise D.

A great original series book would be SPOCK’S WORLD, complete with flashbacks of ancient Vulcan history.

How Much for Just the Planet?

Definitely big-screen material.

I agree with Dark Mirror.

Vendetta wasn’t one of my favourites. I really wanted to see the ex-Borg return to her former self in some fashion.

DS9’s Millenium series would be great, although it’s so long it would probably have to be a mini-series.

Also from DS9, Fallen Heroes, Objective: Bajor, and The Long Night.

“Dr. McCoy?”

“The water, dilithium radiation, your guess is as good as mine…”

My favorite ST novel of all (besides, Dark Mirror). You have to love a novel that combines ST, Gilbert & Sullivan, Hitchcock and a Klingon whose seen one too many old Federation movies:

“Position, ensign?”

“They’re sub-light in the shallows, sir.”

Kor closed his eyes and counted to ten.

“Say again, Ensign.”

“They’re in a cislunar orbit, sir.”

Ah, comedy.

I read a TOS story waaaaaaayyy back in the mid-70’s that was part of a collection of short stories. It had Kirk, Spock, and McCoy transport through some sort of space storm
thingie and ending up on the set of the show and Shatner, Nimoy, and Kelley on the Enterprise.

Ah yes… Visit to a Strange Planet and Visit to a Strange Planet Revisited. Interesting idea… the ultimate ‘alternate universe’ storyline
