Star Trek -- the "I saw it" thread **SPOILERS**

Sorry it took so long to post this …

I saw it.

I was adequately entertained.

:dubious:

SWEET! Did anyone else think Spock Prime’s parka with the foldaway fur face shield was cool?

Considering the topic we were just discussing, that sounds like a pretty disturbing euphemism.

Or maybe New!Kirk visited Mississippi and, a one-night stand later is the reason McCoy’s wife left him early, leading him into Starfleet to get away. :stuck_out_tongue:

What I came here to post about. I think it’s sad that this cosplayer had better Orion makeup. Especially compared to the Klingons on the same site.

About the Uhura/Spock thing, I read an interesting review that included the following. I was of course too much “…wait, Uhura and Spock?” to pick up on this, but it’s a pretty good point.

I actually argued that point with a colleague. I liked the relationship between them, but their entire relationship is completely inappropiate and unprofessional, and them kissing on the transporter pad with their captain right beside them was one of the scenes that took me entirely out of the film.

I don’t care how emotionally compromised Spock is, I just can’t believe a professional military person (Vulcan) would do that.

I hear you. I guess I just took it as a reflection of how emotionally messed up he really was then. He needed some sugah, and she had plenty to share.

Plus I don’t think either of them really thought he’d be coming back.

I agree that their being lovers is inappropriate becuase of the student-teacher thing, as I said upthread. But I doubt Abrams gives a fuck about things like that, any more than he cares about believable career paths for New!Kirk.

Spock does not become emotionally messed up unless shot full of spores or confronted by Mariette Hartley.
^:dubious:^

60s Mariette Hartey was a hottie. Wanting to couple with her is a sign of emotional HEALTH.

It worries me when we agree on something.

Dude, we agree on stuff all the time.

Just to be nice, though, I hunted down this picture of MH as Zarabeth for you.

Lets not rule out Leila Kalomi spores and all.

It worries me when *anyone *agrees with you.

She looks so cold.

Hey, wait a minute. All Our Yesterdays. Spock in an ice cavern. Star Trek 90210. Spock in an ice cavern…

What about Spock and Droxine? No spores or messed up time travel there. Just good old-fashioned flirting.

I believe her Father was wealthy.

That actually counted against her, in the end, as Spock didn’t like the way they treated the Troglytes. But initially he was interested in her as “a work of art” (Spock’s exact words!). Then they went on to discuss Vulcan mating practices.

A mere discussion on biology.
If you wish to speak of someone Spock was seriously interested in, consider the Romulan Commander.

She’d be the first female commander shown in ST, ya? Someone go check Memory Alpha for me
