The wife and I were eating lunch at Quark’s the other day, and they were playing Star Trek Generations on the bigscreen. It hit me that, to my knowledge, they never answered the questions about Guinan’s past, her people, and where she and Picard first met (not counting San Francisco in the 1800s!). Did they ever do this? In books, maybe? Are there canon answers, or just fanwank? Anybody?
There are no canon answers although most fanon (fan canon) assumes that 1800s San Francisco was indeed their first meeting.
Temporally speaking, “their” first meeting is impossible. 1800s San Francisco was her first meeting with him but not his first with her.
Okay, to be more precise: 1800s San Francisco was the beginning of their relationship.
Stupid paradoxes.
Gives you a headache, does it?
