That’s actually the name of a planet and an important piece of the game’s lore but, yeah, its a Nuka-World reference.
Boarded another of those Ecliptic ships while Sam distracted the ones on the ground. Killed everyone on board, disembarked toward my mission objective, and ran the last one on the ground. Killed him.
Ship took off with no life on board. Good thing I wasn’t interested in keeping it!
There appear to be no major quest lines left for me except fighting the Starborn. Everything else looks like piddly crap. I haven’t gotten all the powers yet though.
Does anyone else here USE the powers? I don’t.
I use personal atmosphere, void form, detect enemies, and collect resources (whatever they’re actually called) pretty frequently. Void form was especially nice during the various stealth missions. And personal atmosphere is a lifesaver when you’re overloaded with crap.

detect enemies
I just have that and the anti-gravity field right now. Both are useful in certain circumstances but I’ve been using the former more than the latter.
The trouble with that is that I more or less play a sniper. If I preferred shotguns or grenades, I can see it being useful.
There are two I missed at the end of the game. One of them is apparently supplied by Barrett; I’m not sure how I missed the other (I did go back to Vladimir right at the end to pick up the remaining ones, but somehow one slipped through). Hopefully I’ll pick up the remaining two in my NG+.

My main leans toward a sniper rifle as well – a Justifier – especially outside. Inside is another story.
She recently cleared out an abandoned mine for a bounty mission. Detected an Ecliptic hiding behind a pillar then used anti-gravity to bring him out into the open and shot him with her legendary Va’Ruun Infliflictor – not a sniper but a particle beam rifle that does a combination 233 damage (59 physical + 174 energy). That’ll be her sniper rifle when I can put a scope on it.

I used to carry one weapon for most ammo types, but I’ve learned ammo is not hard to get, so now I only carry four weapons; a sniper weapon for outside, a shotgun for inside, a generic multi purpose weapon like a 6.5mm rifle or an AA99, and a Va’ruun pistol just in case. Honestly, I could probably get by just with a multi purpose gun.

I’m disappointed at how little you make from that; it’s not as lucrative as selling the crap the dead Ecliptics had on them, which makes no sense at all.
I’m running into this problem right now, actually. I’m on my first NG+ iteration, and I decided that this time I’m going to embrace the whole Mantis persona. As such, whenever I run into pirates, I destroy all but the last ship, and then I disable and take that one over. By the time I limp that ship back to the closest stardock and register it, I only make about 10k once I sell it. Registering ships is expensive.

I think they wanted to make sure that you made a profit, but not enough that you’d get rich from it.
Really, it’s not really worth the time for me. I just blow ships up and loot what they leave behind. There is so much hassle in flipping starships that the time/money ratio doesn’t make sense. You’re better off just doing a job from one of the kiosks scattered around if you need cash.
I only capture ships in order to rebuild them into something else. Buying a ship costs 100-150k creds in my experience. Capturing might only cost 20-30k for registration. That actually becomes worth it.
As for missions, I find that shooting up the Serpentis system earns more from drops than I get from mission rewards. The ships often drop 5k on their own, and it’s quick to just roam between the moons. Good way to acquire materials, too.

Oh yes, for that application it makes a lot of sense. Capturing ships to use them saves you a ton of money. It’s just the flipping that doesn’t work well because you get fleeced by those greedy starship repair folks.

And you depopulate the galaxy of those snake-worshipping lunatics!
(Andreja dislikes this.)

She’s never said anything, so I assume she’s cool with it . And anyway, for some reason, Ecliptic/pirates/Spacers are just as common in that system. They all get a fair shake.
I found it amusing in my NG+ to take Andreja through the Va’ruun embassy in that one mission, before she lets on her dark secret. Neither she nor the Ambassador said a word.

Do you ever need cash? Just following storylines, I seem to pile up huge piles of credits.

Do you ever need cash?
I think once I upgraded the crap out of my ship after leveling up some technical skills that unlocked new parts, and I was pretty much broke. I just did some side missions from my log and was fine again.
So no, I’ve never really had to go out of my way to get money…
After a NG+, I had piloting, starship design, etc. fully unlocked, but no money to upgrade. So I kinda focused on moneymaking for a while. There’s also a trader with some rather high-end wares that I had to save up for a bit.
I’m back up to >1M creds, though, and don’t have any more credit sinks.
I wonder where I might buy more luxurious ship interiors?
I’m hoping for expansions. The game is cool but lacks variety in adversaries and it’s very easy.

I wonder where I might buy more luxurious ship interiors?
The aesthetic of all player ships (and NPC ships) is a NASA-inspired, minimalist thing. I don’t think it exists.
The only time I’ve seen a “luxury” interior is on a space cruise ship which was actually just a space station that they called a ship. (It’s not like it was traveling anywhere.)
There’s even a luxury space yacht manufacturer in the game but they don’t actually sell you anything.
I’d love to pay a premium to have a clean, orderly, upscale ship interior. I think we’d have to wait for an expansion or install mods to get that. (I play on Xbox so mods are out.)

Well, there were a few. There was the cruise ship in the Crimson Fleet questline. There’s the museum ship that the collector guy runs. There’s the luxury ship that one of the First Cavalry higher-ups had. There’s an abandoned casino ship that you can loot. Probably more I’m not thinking of.

That was the one I was talking about, but it wasn’t really a “ship”. It was really just a space station that was called a ship in a narrative sense, but you can’t actually fly it or anything. As far as I know, the game doesn’t have any actual ship with an interior that doesn’t look like a space shuttle occupied by frat guys.
