This may have been posted before, but as the date is getting close, I thought I’d put a reminder. The catalogue for the upcoming auction of props from the Stargate shows SG:1 and Atlantis will be happening September 25th and 26th. Online catalogue available here. There does seem to be online bidding as well.
So, anyone going to buy a piece of Stargate history? I was hoping to be able to pick something up, as I’ve been a fan of the show for years, but the prices are way higher than I’m willing to pay. I figured a Zat gun would be cool, but not $800 cool. So I’ll probably just flip through the catalogue wistfully.
Dang! I’ll betcha Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft and founder of Seattle’s Science Fiction Museum) is totally buying a lot of this stuff. Which is what I’d be doing, were I a billionaire.
Bummer that the MALP is a non-functioning version. But they’re selling the fully functional Asgard animatronic puppet. How cool would that be to own? You could spend years just messing with ufologists.
It’s kind of odd, because Stargate has been doing prop auctions all year. I guess this one they saved the really big stuff for. I’d love to bid, but I’m out of work. And seeing how the Lost auction turned out, I probably wouldn’t be able to win anything even with a decent job. But I enjoy looking at the catalog
I thought I had read someplace else about an auction, but couldn’t remember any details about it. I’m all for getting some of this stuff into the hands of fans, but those prices were insane! There really wasn’t anything at all there I saw that was in the range for most people.
