Start your day a little bit better...

At 5:30am this morning, it was an unexpected pleasure to flip open the Washington Post to the Style section, and see the first pic on this page, in living color, occupying most of the space above the fold on the front page of the section.

Even a few years ago, that would’ve been pretty improbable. Sometimes it seems like the world is going to hell in a handbasket, and then something reminds you that some of the ways the world is changing are pretty positive.

“You got to admit it’s getting better
It’s getting better all the time”

I remember in the early 80s, I was about 15-16. I was watching MTV and my dad (from rural Louisiana) caught part of the Ray Parker Jr video for the “Ghostbusters” song. While watching the part where Ray struts up to a white girl (FTR, RPJr is black) in lingerie he just said something like, “God, so much has changed. 30 years ago you wouldn’t have seen that on TV. In Louisiana they’d have lynched him for even appearing to leer at a white girl that way.”

Small steps, folks, are still steps.

Any time there’s some hot girl-on-girl action, the world is getting better.

Seriously, that’s a good step. Of course, the day it’s in the Washington Times is an even bigger step. But, one at a time.

Seeing this article (sorry, the neato graphic isn’t on the web) on the front page of today’s Post was even more exciting, IMHO.

Here’s the graphic.
