State law to require ID for all alcohol sales and the homeless

My university had a big outdoor festival every year. My whole family went. They had tables set up selling beer, with a sign that said “You MUST have ID to purchase alchohol. NO EXCEPTIONS!”

So I’m standing on the line at the corndog truck, and my grandpa (the decorated WWII vet who could still drink a frat house under the table) comes up to me and says, “Do you have your license on you? They won’t sell me beer.”

I go over to the table, hand the dude my ID and buy beer, which I give to my grandpa. The man in 93 years old! He’s standing there yacking with the vendor about fermenting wine in the basement during prohibition. (“It always tasted bad, but back then we didn’t complain”). But, no ID, no exceptions.

Actually, this is not true. It’s only required if you want to utilize property in the trust of the government. You’re free to drive a car anywhere else as long as you have the permission of the property owner.

I was going to post a few minutes ago but my 17 yr old son just got back with the 6 pack I sent him down to the corner for and it being so damn hot I had to have one right away. Anyway I’m sure glad I don’t live in a place that is so uptight I’d have to have an official ID or alcohol permit. And Americans love to call their country the “land of the free”!!

No, Land of the Law-Abiding, unlike our undocumented guest workers.
