State some controversial beliefs that you have.

Indeed

Yes. Yes I do know. There seems to be plenty of it at the moment. I am not currently gasping for my last breath due to bad air quality or a lack of trees. I am not likely to gasp my last breath due to bad air quality or a lack of trees.

And so…I don’t care.

It’s not my job to kill them. They have been found guilty and as such I don’t care what happens to them. If they are innocent then it sucks that they found themselves in a situation or place where the mistake could happen.

[Emphasis mine.]

In my humble opinion, you are absolutely correct and I believe the reason for that is, finally, so many other people are beginning to find the war reprehensible, that it’s put those who don’t on the defensive and by extension, justifying the government’s actions.

One more belief, although I’m not sure it’s all that controversial here. Regardless, I believe I’ll never understand the attitude of “If it doesn’t affect me personally, then I just don’t care!” and I find it truly bizarre. If everyone had felt that way throughout history, then what would’ve happened?

Yes.

Like, say… being in the wrong place at the wrong time? You don’t get out much, do you?

So essentially you tend toward the extraordinarly lazy and apathetic end of sociopathic spectrum?

Wrong place at the wrong time…too bad.

I guess so. People die. People I know die. People I don’t know die. They all die from a variety of things. I can’t be asked to care about everyone of them. If it is someone I don’t know then why should I care.?

What percentage of those in prison do you figure are there due to “excessive misfortune”?

Taking into account your insane Taliban-like marijuana laws, thouasands more than there ought to be.

So it’s not so much that you feel they *deserve * it, as that you simply don’t care? Those are two very different things.

I freely admit that I don’t spend every moment of every day pondering and bemoaning the world’s injustices. I have my own responsibilities to attend to, and I simply don’t have that kind of time.

But there’s a world of difference between simply not being able to muster up the energy to protest, and utterly lacking compassion and empathy. The first is normal. The second is indicative of any number of psychological disorders.

And assuming that people (who aren’t you and/or yours) *deserve * any misfortune that befalls them just makes you Martin Hyde, and no one wants that.

I’ll grant you that. Let me rephrase.

How many of those on death row do you figure are there due to “excessive misfortune”?

Not on death row but these people were pretty unfortunate

“A crooked cop named Tom Coleman was hired in 1998 to conduct a drug investigation in Tulia, Texas, which he did by inventing evidence against 39 innocent men and women, almost all black. Most of the victims were jailed on the sole basis of Coleman’s lies, for terms ranging up to 90 years. When this vicious scheme finally fell apart, the governor pardoned 33 of Coleman’s victims, who won a settlement of $6 million.”

If you’re asking me what percentage of people on death row are absolutely innocent of any crime? It’s probably infinitesimal. That said, it happens, and I’m certainly not willing to concede that killing those people is okay, since we *mostly * get it right.

Ok then. Fair enough. I really honestly don’t care about anyone in prison, especially death row, because it won’t affect me and I have absolutely zero symapthy for anyone in prison. I don’t care if they are guilty or innocent. Really.

I believe that I am okay with it.

I believe that colleges and/or universities shouldn’t have sports teams as we currently know them. Specifically large football and basketball programs. I have no problem with intramural sports teams, but the big business of athletic departments has no place in academia.

They’re outside his monkeysphere.

Nava said…

Naah, you’re right, he’s a TOOL. And if he hates the place so much, why does he hang around? See my last post, he is a PRIME example of IDIOTS who want to see the country fall because they have no other experience to measure just how well we have it, and how it needs to be preserved. What a simplistic, ignorant FOOL this guy (?) is. What’s the deal with that? Is he just bored? Obtuse? Rude?

Or just plain fucking stupid?

In the words of my, (very truly communist uncle), It’s easy to be a communist when you have food to eat, hot and cold running water, and drive a BMW, and live in California. Sheesh! In that part of the world THEY THROW FOOD AWAY!

It’s hard to be an American when you feel guilt over the success of your country.
It’s even harder when you feel guilt for just being who you are, and I really think that’s his problem. Dude needs to get out more, and probably STAY out for some time, see whats REALLY going on in the world. That would be; beyond his computer screen, beyond CNN, beyond a fair wage for a fair days work. This guy is just “ignant”

Send his ass away; send him somewhere where he thinks he would do some actual GOOD! But no – people like him would NEVER do that, it’s WAY easier to sit there and bitch about how good we have it, and how good others DON’T, yet DO NOTHING to improve the lives of people outside of his little cocoon, who live in a world where just SAYING the shit he does will get you a bullet in the brain.

What a fucking pussy!

It takes money and effort to leave that I’m unwilling to expend, I’d have to cut a great many ties I’d prefer not to, and go to a place I probably wouldn’t like either, and staying here irritates people like you. Why should I leave to make people I don’t like or even know happy ?

You obviously haven’t been bothering to read what I said. I don’t want America weakened because I think it’s a bad place to live; I want it to fail because I consider it evil, destructive, and the enemy of the rest of the world, and because I have no reason to believe it’s behavior will do anything but get worse. I think we have it so well in no small part because of our predatory behavior, and I want that stopped.

 Because of course, all people are either American partisans or Communists. I couldn’t possibly be anything but one or the other.

The Cold War is over.

I don’t feel guilt; I feel contempt for most of the rest of this country. Nor do I regard America as a true success; I believe America is well along the process of ruining itself.

Der Trihs - Bite me.

That is all.

Hey, Trihs, that was me, just in case you thought you were responding to rooster circle. I was talking about people with massive, never-need-to-work inheritances, and how we ought to adjust those to get them to be productive. You might want to see my other post (#319) for my position on the hungry poor.

**Can you please answer a few questions. I have defended you from time to time. **
What are you?
Do you come close to any philosophy or economic system?
What country comes closest to what you would hope for a world power to be?
What is your approximate age?
You passionately hate religion, not a problem for me, but what was the religion you have left in such extreme hate?
I do not dislike you, I defend your right to your opinions, the ones I sympathize with and the ones I despise. I can be and have been until the current Administration, extremely jingoistic and a hawk. This would be the opposite of you I believe.
So please, do me this favor and try to answer my questions? I would like to understand where you are coming from a little better.

Jim
