Woot, I’ll have to pick up Borderlands today. It looks like fun but I’m trying to practice good spending and not drop $20 on a whim. $10 is another matter.
You know, if anyone doesn’t, I might have a free one floating around.
I still like the gameplay on Day of Defeat with the Half-Life 1 engine better. I fire it up from time to time.
I don’t! I was thinking about picking it up, but I haven’t decided. Are Episode One and Episode Two both expansion packs to Half Life 2?
Extensions of the storyline.
Anyone who wants a copy of Half Life 2 I’ll gift them my extra copy. I’ve had it since the Orange box came out. I’ll be out most of today but when I get back I’ll check my email/private messages.
I’ve never gifted before but I assume I’ll just need the account name?
Me, for one. I’ve never played it. Is a 12 year old game really that good?
BTW The Crysis offer includes Crysis Warhead. It’s a pity my machine can’t run them.
It’s six years old, HL1 is 12.
Darkhold, you need the steam account name or an email. You can PM me if he runs out.
Half-Life 2 is only 6 years old and still enjoys active support. It is a very good game.
I fell I can answer this fairly honestly having just played through HL2 to get the new achievements (yeah I’m that guy) If you’re the type that enjoys old school type FPS’s where everything takes a few shots to take down and the game moves from set piece to set piece you’ll enjoy this.
If you are more into non-linear realistic action it’ll annoy you. The game also drags in spots and all the vehicle sections seem to be too long.
It’s a solid game that’s excellent for its time. I actually prefer the Episodes over the main game as they feel tighter and better overall but if you’re interested in giving it a shot you might as well start with the main game.
July 3:
Freedom Force: Freedom Pack $1.87
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 $33.49
World of Goo $5.00
Devil May Cry 4 $7.50
Metro 2033 $24.99
Just Cause 2 $24.99
Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse $17.49
Mount & Blade $10.20
Portal $1.99
If you wanted to try Portal, it’s now 2 bucks. World of Goo is quite fun. I would recommend Mount and Blade, although this looks like the older one and not Warband, which is pretty much the same but improved, so I’d hold out for that. There are a few I want to try on here, but I think I’ll wait for the next sale when they get cheaper, I already have a huge backlog from this one.
World of Goo is a great one to waste some time with and so is Portal. I might pick up Just Cause 2 and Metro 2033. Fortunately, there’s still some time left to think about it.
so i bought the Civ IV pack earlier and it came with Beyond the Sword, Colonisation and Warlords. having never played any of the Civilisation games before, what kind of expansions are these? would i want to install all of them right away or play the vanilla version first then install each in turn?
i have a whole bunch of games thanks to this thread so this is definitely not a “need answer fast!” question.
Colonization is a stand-alone game that uses the Civ IV engine. The others add more civilizations and scenarios to the base Civ IV game, they aren’t needed until you want to play one of their scenarios or civilizations.
For the record, I will get in on the various gaming shindigs you guys all have going. This whole section of nongaming life of mine is taking up more time than I was expecting. Plus, you guys seems to do the L4D2 shindigs are the most perfectly wrong time for me to join.
When is a good time? Sometimes we’ll switch games after l4d2 to play other stuff but that’s usually because half of the group is on the east coast and playing l4d2 with 3-5 people is kind of weird.
ah okay, thanks Lute.
I’d install them all in at once. The later games have some changes to how the game itself is played which I think makes the overall experience better.
It is surprisingly fun for such a simple game. The graphics aren’t cutting edge, but the maps are beautiful. It’s basically a multiplayer game where you get to choose one of 4 different characters and, depending on the game type, complete various objectives, like stealing gold, robbing a bank, or blowing up various structures.
More people should buy it!
oh, then i’ll do that instead. thanks Rand.
