The Devon Tread 1. This is a really cool watch. It has tiny motors in it that drive a series of belts to display the time. It can be put into sleep mode to save the battery and resumes displaying the current time when it’s restarted. The battery is wirelessly rechargeable using induction current. It’s made in a limited edition of 150. The only thing that keeps it off my shopping list is that it costs $25,000.
It would be more steampunk if it was self-winding…
The reviewer in the video said it would have been prohibitively expensive to make it a mechanical watch.
What the heck kind of self-respecting steampunk mechanism uses a battery? Even a self-winding movement is pushing it.
Do people really think that you can just glue some gears on it and call it steampunk?
that is a pretty cool looking watch.
Their attention to the problem of keeping the price reasonable is admirable.
That thing must weight two pounds.
The watch is neat, but start watching all the other “10 cool watches” videos that get linked, and, wow.

I like the steampunk look but for 25,000 dollars I would want a watch which could stop time.
What’s steampunk about it? Besides being a bronzish color and having a few fake rivets, it’s much more industrial than steampunk.
Seriously. “Steampunk”. Where’s the boiler? Where’s the fuel tank? (I’ll make accommodations for the small form factor and not insist on coal. But compressed gas? Liquid fuel? Bueller? Bueller?)
