In my Chrome, it shows as text first. If I highlight it, then I get the image. However, Chrome (or is this a Google hijack?) asks me if I want to translate it from French to English. Translated, it looks similar when highlighted – broken up image, but recognizable.
This somehow reminded me of “porn for the blinds” that was mentioned on CNN a short while ago. Basically, there’s a company that produces porn in braille and tactile images. The CNN crew went around and tried it out on 2 blind people that they found on the street. They showed it to a cute blind girl first. Her reactions were hilarious. She was like “ewww”, “gross”, “ouch!”, “oh no…”, but I think she liked it :p. Then they showed it to a blind guy who also happened to be gay. It didn’t seem to do anything to him.
Well, Chrome is a Google product. Autotranslation is a feature they added recently. And of course it looks better in French. It’s the language d’amour, non?

Huh. When I translate it, it mostly stays in French, yet only the spaces retain their color until halfway down, where it looks like the translator gave up.
I’m not surprised about the translation offer, but a little surprised that translation doesn’t completely mangle the image.
Wasn’t it James Thurber who said he was having his library all translated into French, cause they lose something in the original?
