Stephen King trivia

You remember well. I’ll admit, that’s a very obscure one, but he compared them to dandelions. One or two on you lawn isn’t so bad, but to many and they become the weeds of your story. [paraphrasing here]

It’s from his latest, 11/22/63:

Derry is Dallas, Dallas is Derry

Yep, that’s what I was thinking of… but…

…damn, you’re right. I was remembering incorrectly. Operation Straw was the first mission to Mars to bring back water in 2045.

Bingo.

Patrick Hocksetter in It, right? he was the big brother that killed his baby brother and then got attacked by flying leeches in…an old refridgerator. you want the baby’s name? man…

In which part of his house, at the time, did King write Carrie?

Good one! I just read 11/22/63, I should have remembered. he spent some space on the actual build of the two words: both 2 syllables, both with double consonants in the middle, both evil feeling cities.

I think he wrote *Carrie *while he and Tabby were living in a trailer.

Avery!

I was thinking Andrew, but Avery sounds right.

YES! this is fun. 2- 1/2 more hours to go…

Ahh, you’re right, it was the trailer, as him and Tabitha were living on nickels and dimes at the time. He wrote it on a portable typewriter in the utility room, IIRC, crammed in a small space next to the water heater.

He tossed the first few pages, thinking it was crap, but she fished them out of the trash, and urged him to continue and it became his first big success.

Patrick Hockstetter is not only featured in It, but also in another story. Which one?

In The Langoliers, what did the character Craig Toomey do to sooth himself and relive stress?

tore sheets of paper into strips.

That is really cool looking. Nice work!

Yessss.

Thanks! It’s one of my favorite stories from him. I have more stuff I did for it, and hope to return fleshing the look out a bit more (along with my screenplay). I’ll have to contact his people who manage his Dollar Baby program, as I’d really like to make this an independent short film. Alas, it seems it’s not up for grabs anymore (perhaps it’s been optioned?), and I’m busy anyway on another short I’m doing. Someday… sigh

(and yes, I know Carune’s portals were described as rectangular, I did some concepting on that as well, but knowing a bit of physics, I came up with some technobabble reasoning in my head on how it works and why it should be circular. :p)

That dollar baby program is really cool. I had no idea it existed. Good Luck!

Thanks!

What are the names of Dolores Claiborne’s sons (neither of whom was in the movie)?

EZ one

Pete and Joe jr.

Congratulations gentlemen, well played!
And a fine, spine-tingling story it is too. My ex-wife read it, and forever after refused to ride with me when I went out exploring back roads around Klamath Falls…

Firestarter.
