I think the main reason for this is the “not enough talent to spread around” arguement. There’s just way too many teams that before the season even starts people would answer “not a chance” to their odds of winning a championship.
30 teams and people already know it’s Miami/Boston/LA and maybe a couple lucky others. Who wants to watch any of the other teams and their nobody players.
