Steve Jobs dies

To his accolytes he was. To those of us who value USB ports, not so much.

You forget yer history, he was the first dude to say ‘Okay, if usb is so darned cool, lets get rid of all the other oddball ports’.

And was he famous? In some parts. Me, I’m known to play a wicked set of spoons, but I’ll bet ya never heard of me.*

*-no, not really.

Steve Jobs was the only celebrity I have interacted with without becoming a blithering idiot.
I work at an art supply store in Palo Alto. For the second time in a month, he and his family came in. It was a Sunday, and things were slow. Another customer recognized him and started blubbering praise, shaking his hand, etc. Steve was gracious. When it came time for me to ring him up, I gave him a knowing smile and proceeded as usual with the task. I thanked him when we were done, and when he smiled and said “thank you” back, it felt to me like he appreciated the normal treatment.

I was just listening to my iPod on shuffle today and this song comes on :frowning:

Too few people make any difference at all, a lucky few get to change the world.

MSNBC write-up here.

First paragraph:

Oh my. I watched that video, and it was incredibly sweet. Just when I get sick of the Jobs hysteria, I see something like that that makes me go “Aww.” Like this one.

Here is my favorite Steve Jobs tribute:

Here’s to the crazy ones.

To be honest I think Steve Jobs was kinda over-hyped and never more so than in the last couple of days. I am sad he is dead though and he undoubtedly made the tech industry more interesting. I am looking forward to reading his soon-to-be-released authorized biography by Walter Isaacson which has to be one of the most best-timed biographies of all-time.
