Huh.
I’d only known her from this:
I don’t think anyone can measure up to the original performance, but she does a great job.

Anneke van Giersbergen. swoon
On the other side, Michael Hutchence of INXS. Man, that cat was just pure sex. I’m not gay, but he was undeniably sexy.
Kate Bush - “The Sensual World”
I’m not a lesbian but I’ve heard tell from several fellas this this song causes reactions sometimes. The fact that it’s inspired by Molly Bloom’s sexy soliloquy from James Joyce’s novel Ulysses, helps.
Vocally and lyrically, this song just envelops and hugs you (song starts about 45 seconds in). Lyrically it’s not sexy (it’s about friendship) but you did mention voice, not words.
George Michael. I can suspend my disbelief for him any day.
Chevelle (lead singer Pete Hamilton.)
Bush (Gavin Rossdale)

Jewel, in her original incarnation.
Natalie Merchant
Bjork:
pictures set to Venus as a Boy
Big Time Sensuality vid (I prefer the album version of that song, but I can’t find it in a video.)
Pretty much anything by Hayley Westenra.
Perhaps you should go see Alice about that? ![]()
Cerys Matthews, who I only know from her work on the Space song, “The Ballad Of Tom Jones”.
The whole song, but my pants get especially tight from the way she sings the line, “… and I am just a pussy cat”. Yowza.
Mark Lanegan (not him in the picture). God almighty. Although it’s a toss-up as to whether his voice is smoking hot or chilling in a “this is what the harbinger of Armageddon will sound like” sort of way. …Which is also hot.
Frank Sinatra, especially when he sings Prisoner of Love. I swoon, I literally swoon, whenever I hear that song.
I don’t know her name, what she looks like, or the name of the song, but I’ve heard this tune on the radio a couple of times and something about her voice and the stripped-down production on the song is very sensual.
The refrain is something like this (I’m going to murder these lyrics):
It starts in my toes, and spreads to (or “I crinkle”) my nose
The way it goes, the feeling grows…
Tori Amos gives me funny feelings in my tummy.
Colbie Caillat, Bubbly.
I wish Wikipedia would tell me how a last name that should be pronounced “KAI-yut” is actually pronounced “kuh-LAY.” ![]()
Am I really the first one to mention Róisín Murphy of Moloko?
One of the more unusual voices (very deep for a female) belongs to 남상아 (Nam Sang Ah) of 3rd line butterfly. Somehow I seem to prefer the deep, whispering voices - the way I’m wired apparently.
Stevie Nicks. It’s not even close.
Her voice has the opposite effect on me. I’m not turned on by a bleating goat.
Regina Spektor does it for me, especially “On the Radio” when she does that “Ah, ah, ah-ah-ah, ah” part.
Also Liz Phair, Avril Lavigne, Duffy, Lily Allen, and (already mentioned) Colbie Caillat and Tori Amos.
It’s been over 20 years since this album came out but Alannah Myles did it for me both visually and with her voice.
