Well, there are the folks pointing out “who looks toughest” is the favorite, and they were just treated to an image of a triumphant Trump with his fist held high surviving an assassination attempt to play alongside a droopy-mouthed Biden fading into incoherence.
I dunno. I hate him with every fiber of my being, but that’s a badass picture. I can see some stupid unmotivated voters having their minds changed by it (from not voting to voting for Trump).
Anybody can look triumphant after being rescued by the Secret Service. I like candidates who are brave while being shot at, and don’t cower behind a podium.
You can check her post history. Lots of coherent, consistent tweets. She’s replied coherently to several comments on her tweet. And she has thousands of followers who are themselves (at least in part) obviously not bots. Definitely not a bot herself, and probably not a troll.
Sincere contemplator? Well I’m not sure much deep contemplation is going on since a cool pic got her to vote in a certain way. But people with poor contemplation skills still get a vote, just like you or me.
Anyway, it’s just one person. But it would not shock me in the least if there are many people out there for which that pic moves the needle.
As I have said IRL, great, now Trump looks tough for getting shot in the ear and ducking. At the same time, I wouldn’t expect anyone to stay standing there at the podium as bullets wiz by.
I doubt he had a choice. Didn’t the Secret Service knock him down and cover him with their own bodies? I’m pretty sure that’s their job if they hear bullets flying.
I will say I was kind of surprised to see that picture instead of one with him huddled under something with his arms over his head. But by the time they let him stand up they’d probably done so because they’d been told the shooter was down, and Trump would have heard that too.
From the video I’ve seen, first Trump slaps at his ear, then ducks. Only after that do other people (presumably Secret Service) appear in that space. (They may be covering him with their bodies, but the camera angle doesn’t show that.)
