Most people these days seem to think anything much above the knee on men is dangerously short, and may indicate homosexuality on the part of the wearer. Those old enough will remember when the original OP cord shorts extremely popular on college campuses, at least in California. Those were about mid-thigh length and just a normal fit, not baggy, not tight. From what I’ve seen, the company still makes those, but their sale has become marginalized to gay-oriented Internet and mail order houses.
