If you’re in or near the American Midwest, you know that the area has been/will be walloped by heavy thunderstorms and thunderstorms around this time. (I was fortunate; we just got heavy rain, a few minutes of wind, and a bit of hail.) Anyway, a triple bill headed by the thrash band Morbid Angel did perform as scheduled at a small auditorium in Belvidere, Illinois, between Rockford and Chicago, and information is sketchy but initial calls were requesting 20 ambulances.
I have since heard that the concert was suspended a few minutes after the tornado warning was issued, and the musicians taken offstage, but some people were still in the auditorium when the ceiling collapsed.
That footage of the large group of men moving the fallen roof was taken by a woman, who in addition to wanting her friends and family to know she was OK, also thought they should be identifiable in case anyone wants to recognize their bravery. They lifted that big section off some victims, not knowing if they were going to be cut by glass, shingles, large splinters, nails, etc.
