Is it available? Does the Straight Dope have that or anything in that fashion?
I was just wondering. I don’t often see links to here that often surfing around. It would be cool if Threadspotting and Today’s Question were more out there.
There might be a couple of unofficial feeds out there but they [post=8177294]had to shut down RSS[/post] when the server had a stroke trying to manage it last January.
I, for one, would luuuuuurve an RSS feed of my subscribed threads so I could read it on my Palm.
I wondered whether it would be possible to register a few feeds (say, one for each forum) with a service like FeedBurner and block access to the original feeds for everyone except the bot of that service. That way one bot would access the SDMB feeds relatively rarely but any number of users could read the FeedBurner feeds without causing problems.
The Critical Mass thread in the bbq pit made me wonder about the sdmb and whatever goals the ptb have for it. Obviously I don’t expect a private company to come right out and answer stuff, but…
Does the sdmb advertise on the web? Would quadrupling the paid membership be a blessing or a nightmare? Would being featured on a site like popurls overload the servers? Would the traffic translate into memberships? That kind of stuff.
