This is an interesting way of civil dissent. Frankly, I’m not sure what powers or authorities a deputy in the Bashkortostan republican legislature would or would not have in creating laws etc. But that would be so great if the US had a politician that would stand up for civil rights like that.
Holy cats! That’s cool.
When we build Homoslovakia, he’s getting a tree on the Avenue of the Fabulous.
Many gay marriage threads here deride weak or sham marriages engaged in by heterosexuals, concluding that the case for heterosexual exclusivity in this area is negated by Britney Spears and her ilk.
Yet this sham marriage should be celebrated as a sign that gays will treat the institution with proper respect?
Yeah… it’s another sham marriage with a heterosexual. Of course, the crux of the argument for gay marriage is **not ** based on the fact that since heterosexuals have sham marriages that that should be the reason gays can marry each other.
Well, with the same amount of respect accorded to the institution by heterosexuals, at the very least.
But what’s really being celebrated here is the idea of a poltician willing to take such a dramatic stand in favor of gay rights, when so many of our domestic pols are making homophobia a cornerstone of their campaigns. Kind of a wierd day when American politicians can take a less in freedom and individual rights from their Russian counterpart.
I dunno, man. There’s a whole bunch of people out there who think that gay marriage isn’t “real” marriage, and I hardly think the best way to turn that mindset around is to become a perfect example of a fake marriage.
It’s the thought that counts, maybe?
That’s the thought I had as well.
Sounds like a great way to trivilize both gay relationships and the institution of marriage. Thanks, guys!
