StraightDope Jeopardy.

While you’re sorting that mess out (see, when I go away, play flows much more smoothly. Aren’t you all glad I finished packing for now?:-D), I’ll have Mixed Members for $200, please:)

Iran, Iraq, what’s the difference?

Weapons of Mass Destruction.

You’re right…wow…I guess I wrote it down wrong.

Well, there you have it…what do you both decide? Should you get the points Cisco? Should he? Punha? Or should Punha get them for seeing the error and giving the correct answer?

And I SWEAR to you that “satisfyingpunhathjckas:3=” REALLY was a question I made 2 days ago. How’s THAT for a major coincedence?

MM for 200.

Answer:

JarbabyCanuck

Honestly I thought the name was something like “Not really that bright” but I was answering in the way that I thought best fit the “question”/[answer].

Darn it, dinner time. Later, fellas.

Idle, thanks for the entertainment.

Who are JarbabyJ and CuriousCanuck ?

Who are jarbabyj and curiouscanuck?

Well here are my thoughts:

  1. As written, the answer lended itself to us mis-remembering the SN RNATB as NRATB, but it also validated same answer with the same twisting in both question and answer. It’s a case of knowing what the person meant when the question was otherwise sound, something that’s been held up previously in this thread.

  2. The answer was not written properly, so a question that gives what the writer was actually seeking, albeit in mixed-up wording, should also receive credit.

  3. We shouldn’t re-wind to the original question;)

My take on it, therefore (especially since it isn’t a game-breaker:D), is that Cisco should get full marks for questioning your answer as it was written and that I should get full marks for questioning your answer as it should have been written. Nobody gets penalized, really; it wasn’t a $1K question, so the increase in (fake) money given out isn’t all that substantial, and neither does Cisco lose points nor am I denied points for each of us being correct in a separate and valid manner.

Who are JarbabyJ and CuriousCanuck?

Correct.

I bet I know what he’s going to pick.

And that’ll do it for me as well. The end of my shift approaches, time to get the hell outta here.

Thanks for a great idea, Idle. Good job hosting!

I’ll sign off by calling for X is to Y 200 for the rest of you.

Enjoy!

I’d like to propose that Final Jeopardy not have an egregiously low time limit. 30 seconds would be a bit low, since it takes a full minute in between posting, say, “When’s my Final Jeopardy getting here, biatch?” and “[question]::hoping this goes through in time::”

I therefore suggest that each eligible participant post here saying they’re ready for their Final Jeopardy Auestion and that it be emailed to them. It then should be posted in this thread once all eligible parties have received their answer and have emailed you with their question.

I like the way you think. You’ve really made some very good points. I agree, so you’ll also be awarded the points for pointing out the fact of the real SN and supplying us with the correct answer.

All ready way ahead of ya, bud. :D. I’ve hosted these things on other MBs before. Usually I use PM in that case, but as it’s disabled here, I’ll be using email. But great minds think alike, no? And as for time…to be fair, I’ll have to at least allow a day or so so that every can be on and see this and email, twice, in fact, with their wager and then answer.

Thank YOU for playing. You’ll be in FJ by a long shot.
