JimB, stall speed can be very fast or very slow, depending on the plane. Did you really mean “no miles per hour”? I think it is probably several hundred miles per hour.

Now that someone has finally got Satan’s UFO reference, can I throw out another WAG? Might it have been an A-10? I used to see those spooky MF’s all the time growing up in Maryland. Never saw one with a searchlight, but they seem to cover ground as slowly as they please, and you can’t really hear them until they’re right on top of you.
I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids!
