Strangest business combinations you've ever seen

I like the Texas general store/gas n’ git places that advertise deals on latte and live bait.

–and Live Bait seems to be a popular mom & pop combo. There used to be a hair salon & live bait place the next town over, and years ago while traveling through Tennessee my husband and I passed by a Beanie Babies & Live Bait shop. And I can’t tell you how many newsstands around here offered live bait; it was pretty much a given.

I saw a place that did nails and also sold vape stuff and sex toys.

There is a very popular sandwich shop housed in a laundromat in my town.

My hairdresser has her salon in the front part of the shop, her husband has a computer repair/internet cafe/printing business at the back. The counter is divided up between the two.

Computer sales and repairs, and florist. They were two separate businesses, then the florist closed up and moved into the shared premises. I’m not sure if the florist then moved on to a new premises or closed down entirely, but the computer shop is now back to being just a computer shop.

I still can’t believe that the toy shop/tobaccanist still exists in 2015, although it has been there since I was a child.

U-haul Rentals & Grill, Anniston AL. Surprisingly, very good food!

I just thoughtof a couple more. The first was a V Twin Cycle Shop/ sushi bar in my little town. Their motto was “Ride American, eat Japanese.”

On the same note, Boswell’s Harley-Davidson of Nashville has one location with a cafe that does a decent burger.

A big mining conglomerate that diversified into construction, heavy equipment, --and in-betweening contracts for Japanese anime (this was before the days of autocad and whatnot so they employed lots of professional cartoonists.)

In Albany, CA there used to be a hot tub store that also did video rentals.

It’s not quite the same thing, but in Oakland there are two businesses on the same lot: a drive-through espresso place that feeds into a ten-minute oil change place. I think it’s a brilliant idea.

It looks like the business is just a fly shop now.

I lived briefly in that region several years ago, and vaguely remember that sign.
