Straus-Kahn case falling apart. Duke lacrosse, etc.?

The rest of what you said was ridiculous, but suggesting he couldn’t have assaulted this woman because she’s ugly really invalidates your opinion.

She isn’t ugly at all
2° She had already recounted the assault some years ago on TV (without mentionning DSK by name, though), so she didn’t just wake one month ago after rape charges were filled against DSK in New-York.

Also, I strongly doubt DSK is going to run for the 2012 elections, now. Even though the Socialist party is willing to change the date for the registration for the primaries, his chances of winning them would be low . Let alone his chances to win the presidential election itself (and another socialist heavy weight who had agreed not to run against him before the scandal is now in the race. She’s my prefered candidate, by the way, so it’s all for the best from my point of view).

Apart from the conspiracy rants (and it is quite hilarious to think of either Strauss-Khan or Barroso as anti-establishment types), Tristane Banon is definitely not ugly. She’s rather pretty (not that attractiveness is the major factor in cases of rape, from what I gathered)..

But attractiveness seems to be a major factor as far as DSK is concerned, from what I gathered.

As the old joke says:

“You just walk up to women and say, ‘Hi, let’s fuck’?! You must get slapped a lot!”
“Yeah… but I also get laid a lot.”

Not his own, surely. (You could say the same thing about Clinton, too, except for the rape part, although that’s been said, too).

Some commentary from as France-sympathetic media source as you’re likely to see here:

The repercussions continue - and they’re not all bad.

Italy is supposedly going through something similar in the wake of all the allegations against Berlusconi, which range from orgies to giving government posts to good-looking women who worked for his TV stations and (worst of all) sex with an underage prostitute.

I’ve read that in The Guardian as well, and it’s total bullshit. Some feminist movements have tried to use the DSK case to boost their visibility, to no avail. the only blowback from the DSK case is the George Tron case being opened. The rest (France’s supposed macho culture and its horrors being Nuremberged) is foreign correspondents showing they need a reassignment considering how they are out of touch with the country they’re supposed to know as well as any local, and report about.

So, is the criminal case over (moving to the civil one? So, do they go to court or find a settlement?)?
