So I’m the only one who didn’t think it looked THAT bad?
I mean, think of the movie as “Wanted” or “Shoot em up”. They’re not going to be “good” movies, but it wont be a total waste of money to watch some chick who looks pretty hot (although NOT Chun-Li) ninja/gun fight for 90+ minutes.
Wait…they’re making a Dragonball live action movie…? HOW? I mean… D= The hair alone would kill the SFX budget.
And as for the SF movie…watched the trailer and actually didn’t think it looked that bad. Of course I’m a die-hard Vega fangirl and seeing him in the trailer made me squeal in delight in more ways than one.
Well let me recant my joygasm over Vega in my previous post. On closer inspection it appears that not only is he not blond but he also appears to be a Chinese man with a horrible hairdo. The movie may officially bite me.
Oh, God, I just watched the Dragonball trailer. It looks awful! No, just…no.
I am, that’s why I’m hesitant about touching it with a 10-foot explosive-tipped lance.
I did too! For some reason there was no sound but I consider that a stroke of luck. It looked horrible. WHY is Goku white and everyone else is Asian? Why does Piccolo have jaundice? And who the hell is Mai??
It’s worse than a thought, and as a DB semi-fanboy that’s saying something.
It appears they scrapped the original story where Piccolo came from Kami, also the Dragonballs were created by mystics who fought Piccolo a "long long time ago"™ instead of Kami (though I’m not sure they addressed their creation in the original series, I may be using too much DBZ knowledge here).
Bulma appears to be a ninja chick… with guns (what, did they run out of casting budget for Launch, decide to make Chi Chi un-awesome and just roll them into Bulma?) I think Bulma DID have a handgun in early DB (she shoots Goku in the head with it in Curse of the Blood Rubies in the Japanese version), but I still don’t think Bulma ever qualified as a badass normal.
Actually… I think I’ll stop now before I get any more fanboy-pissed here.
ETA: Mai was Emperor Pilaf’s female minion, as there is no Emperor Pilaf they decided to make her Piccolo’s (apparently no one remembers Tambourine, Piano, or Cymbal anymore). They did make up one character completely though, Emi, who appears to bea High School friend of Bulma.
Um… correction, Bulma isn’t a ninja-chick, that was Mai or something at the end. But still, what? (And was that chick in the white dress Chi-chi or Emi or what?)
It looked like a bland action movie to me. Not actively offensive, but just boring.
I agree. It looks ten times better than the insufferable Wanted, which I payed money to see in a theater.
I thought I saw some girl morphing. Is she supposed to be Lunch? Also, yes, it is incredibly annoying that Goku is white.
And what’s this I hear about Sokka and Katara being cast as white kids? What, we can’t have a movie full of Asians? It’s not allowed?
+1. The really embarassing thing is my wife loved Wanted. :rolleyes: I didn’t realise she had such poor taste. 
As to Streetfighter, it didn’t think it looked that bad. Just another in the very long list of B grade action movies. Which as long as you don’t expect much of anything from them can occasionally provide an hour and half of mindless entertainment.
Certainly can’t have one full of eskimos.
Actually that’s one of the things that just annoyed me to no end about Forbidden Kingdom. It just seemed so ridiculous that this white kid is running around ancient China and no one seemed to notice outside of “He’s not our kind” in a passing fashion. Of course I hate droopy eyed actors so I was kinda biased against him in the first place.
So I have heard. The actor I’ve seen suggested as Sokka is so white, he played one of Twilight’s sparkly vampires. And the guy that might be playing Zuko is a pop singer.
