Sorry, different song. I did a bit more research, and the song is actually called “When Love Beckoned (on 52nd Street)” and it was written by Cole Porter.
While doing this research (through some Ben Bagley albums) I turned up one called “2nd Avenue & 12th Street Rag” from The Littlest Revue, probably written by Vernon Duke and Ogden Nash.
